About Me

Let me help your memories…

I’m Kara and I’m your photographer. I work with people who, like me, love their families more than life itself, but may have less than perfect recollections of the past and who could use some visual reminders!

I’ve been on a mission since 2007 to help my clients….  I’m on a mission to help you (and your children and your grandchildren) remember you… And the perfection of your sleeping baby, the toothless grin of your 7 year old, the young adult your high school senior has become, and the beauty of the love your family shares.

When I’m not behind the camera (or at the computer making my photographs shine), I wear several other hats. I am a teacher. I’m married to my college sweetheart and I am the mom of 3 girls (ages 14-19), who are just as likable as they are lovable!  I can’t believe how fast they are changing from kids who cried when I dropped them off at preschool to self-sufficient young adults.  Somehow, I have a hard time remembering the details of them growing up and don’t know quite how it happened.

My silly girls

My best excuse for not having an accurate memory is “chemo-brain.”  I completed my cancer treatment in October 2010!  As any survivor can tell you, cancer can really make you take stock of what is most important in life – those you love and the memories that you share. As a photographer, I tend to spend lots of time behind the camera, but facing the possibility of not seeing my girls graduate from high school made me realize how important photographs of me would be to them. It made me look at photography a whole new way. I don’t just capture moments in time, but relationships, memories, love.  I help people remember who they are, who they used to be!

The photo at the right was taken the last day of my cancer treatment, when I received a bone marrow transplant.  It was exactly 17 years to the day after Brian proposed to me.  I love this picture, even though we look more alike than I would ever hoped…  It helps me remember how far I have come, how strong I am, and how much my husband loves me.
